Job Title: Import Supply Chain Planner

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Import Supply Chain Planner to join our Global Freight Management team at JD Sports. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the administration and shipping duties required by the Global Freight team, ensuring the smooth flow of shipping for private label brands and licensed brands.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the planning and tracking of shipments for UK and European distribution, working closely with international Joint Venture teams to organize their shipment of own-brand products.
  • Track shipments from ex-factory to on-time receipt at the warehouse, ensuring accurate and timely delivery.
  • Plan shipments, costs, and timelines, working closely with freight forwarders to maximize container fill and minimize dwell times.
  • Establish excellent working relationships with internal stakeholders, external suppliers, and freight forwarders, liaising with them to ensure goods are shipped in a timely manner.
  • Support the development of and creation of reporting on the current shipment status, highlighting any potential issues.
  • Monitor performance of factories, forwarders, and hauliers, optimizing on-time, in-full deliveries.
  • Coordinate airfreight and develop and complete transit shipping reports using different software sources.
  • Communicate transport/transit issues to relevant teams, escalating issues promptly where required.
  • Manage timely and accurate freight invoice sign-off.
  • Accountable for the continued development, tracking, and improvements in KPIs.
  • Raise supplier claims and execute tasks with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Support the refresh of SOPs, annual tender activity, and delivery of transformation projects.
  • Support the development of carbon emission reporting for freight movements, working to minimize emissions.

Requirements:

  • Experience in supply chain management.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to build effective relationships with stakeholders.
  • High level of resilience, attention to detail, organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.
  • Flexible, comfortable with change, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
  • Problem-solving skills, with a can-do mentality and strong aptitude for learning.
  • Strong desire to learn new skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks at once, meeting tight deadlines.
  • Strong customer service ethos.
  • Strong experience in using Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Knowledge of import and export processes, including shipping processes.
  • Awareness of the importance of accurate classifications and customs classification of goods.
  • Experience working in a retail environment.
  • Experience working in an office admin role.
