The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Nurse Specialist in Medicine to join our team at NHS Lanarkshire. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will manage a complex caseload, using evidence-based practice and client-centered principles to assess, plan, and implement care. You will also provide expert advice and support, operating within a defined specialism across NHS Lanarkshire.

The successful candidate will lead the development and implementation of quality improvement, clinical audit, and research activity. You will also supervise, educate, and develop members of the multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a complex caseload using evidence-based practice and client-centered principles
  • Provide expert advice and support within a defined specialism
  • Lead the development and implementation of quality improvement, clinical audit, and research activity
  • Supervise, educate, and develop members of the multidisciplinary team
Requirements
  • Registered Healthcare Practitioner with valid UK Registration (NMC / HCPC)
  • Educated to/working towards/operating at Masters Level
  • Postgraduate expertise within speciality/area of practice demonstrating required breadth of knowledge
  • Advanced Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies, and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice
  • Excellent team-working/leadership skills and ability to motivate and influence others
  • Excellent listening, communication, and interpersonal skills and effective time management skills
  • Working knowledge of basic information technology
Desirable Qualifications
  • Non-medical prescribing
  • Clinical assessment
  • Postgraduate qualification in travel medicine or equivalent
  • TREC
  • Experience of immunisations and/or within travel vaccinations
  • Specialist knowledge of immunisations and/or travel vaccines
  • Experience of managing a team
  • Car Driver with a full, valid UK/EU/EEA licence

This role will be based in Vaccination Programme within Muirhead Clinic
