Join our team of skilled professionals at National Nuclear Laboratory and contribute to a groundbreaking research project investigating helium behaviour in plutonium oxide. This 2-year fixed-term contract provides a unique opportunity to gain expertise in solid-state characterisation and radiation sources.

As a Helium Behaviour Expert - Plutonium Oxide, you will be responsible for undertaking research, supporting measurement setup, and actively pursuing the goals of the programme. You will also have the chance to develop a detailed understanding of industry projects on plutonium management across partner organisations.

To be successful in this role, you will need a PhD in chemist or material science, ideally with a background in electron microscopy or solid-state characterisation. Excellent data-taking/analysis skills, experimental aptitude, and enthusiasm for high technical quality standards are essential.

The estimated salary for this position is £60,000-£70,000 per annum, depending on experience.
