Job Summary:

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled Family Services Specialist III to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for providing expert case management services to vulnerable populations, including children and families in need of support. With a focus on delivering high-quality services, you will work closely with clients, community partners, and internal stakeholders to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive service plans to meet the unique needs of each client.
  • Conduct thorough assessments, investigations, and home visits to identify risks and develop strategies for intervention.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to share knowledge, expertise, and resources, ensuring a coordinated response to complex cases.
  • Provide ongoing support and advocacy for clients, connecting them with community resources and services that promote stability and self-sufficiency.
  • Manage and maintain accurate, detailed records of client interactions, service plans, and outcomes, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices, laws, and policies affecting child welfare and family services.
  • Represent the Commonwealth of Virginia in a professional, courteous manner, building strong relationships with clients, community partners, and colleagues.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field or a related field, or a Bachelor's degree in any field with a minimum of two years of relevant experience in a Human Services area.
  • Considerable experience in child welfare, family services, or a related field, with a strong understanding of social work principles, practices, and laws.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, prioritizing multiple tasks, and managing competing deadlines and demands.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with a strong focus on client-centered practice and cultural sensitivity.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel, as needed, to conduct home visits, attend meetings, and participate in training.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in a Human Services field or a related field.
  • Commonwealth of Virginia Social Worker license.
  • Experience with case management software, data analysis, and program evaluation.
  • Fluency in multiple languages, particularly those spoken by the populations we serve.
