Are you a recent Criminology Graduate eager to make a meaningful impact in the lives of vulnerable children? Do you have a passion for supporting individuals with complex mental health needs?

We are seeking a highly motivated and empathetic Criminology Graduate to join our team as a Learning Support Assistant at a unique mental health school in Reading. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing emotional and therapeutic support to children with childhood trauma, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, attachment disorders, and PTSD.

Your expertise in Criminology will enable you to understand the behavior of our students, identify triggers that lead to negative behavior, and develop strategies to support their learning challenges. You will gain valuable experience working with children who are vulnerable to criminal influence and learn de-escalation techniques to resolve conflicts or challenging behavior.

This role offers a unique opportunity to apply your theoretical knowledge in a practical setting, making you a competitive candidate for future PhD or Criminal Justice roles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide emotional and therapeutic support to children with complex mental health needs
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualized support plans
  • Assist with lesson planning and delivery, adapting to the needs of students with varying learning styles
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
  • Contribute to a safe and inclusive learning environment
