Job Introduction

We are seeking a skilled Mobile Maintenance Fitter (Silo) to join our Tarmac Dry Silo Mortar Plant team in the South West region. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to plant breakdowns and perform timely and safe repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct fault finding and diagnosis of control panels, inverters, and level indicators on mobile silos.
  • Perform PAT testing of portable appliances and demonstrate competences in fault diagnosis.
  • Ensure mobile silos are supplied to customers in a safe and fit-for-purpose working condition.
  • Continuously improve plant performance while maintaining safety, maintenance, and asset reliability.
  • Contribute to the development of the Computer Maintenance Management System.
  • Manage van stock levels and maintain policies, procedures, and guidelines for safe and efficient maintenance.

Requirements

  • Level 3 Apprentice trained or ONC/NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering (QBE is essential).
  • Knowledge of maintenance practices, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, and welding.
  • Experience in working with gearboxes, motors, and pumps, and understanding of LOTOTO (Isolation of Plant and Equipment).
  • Experience in TPM methodology and Continuous Improvement.
  • Working knowledge of relevant engineering maintenance principles and practices, and experience in a heavy engineering industry.
  • Knowledgeable in Predictive Maintenance and experience with a Computer Maintenance Management System.
  • Experience with Root Cause Analysis, Failure Mode & Effect Analysis tools/techniques, and database systems.
  • Understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, and National and International codes and symbols used on drawings and specifications.
