The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a skilled and compassionate Mortuary Technician to join our team. As a key member of our Mortuary Services team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and dignified handling of deceased patients and their property.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with the provision of mortuary services across the Trust, demonstrating initiative and judgment to ensure the smooth running of the service.
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with staff, the Coroner's Office, funeral directors, Police, and members of the public.
- Provide support to the Mortuary Services Manager and deputise in their absence, ensuring the efficient running of the service.
- Maintain accurate and complete records, including the mortuary register, to enable funeral arrangements to be made without delay.
- Collate and provide data as required, ensuring complete and accurate recording systems are maintained daily.
- Perform departmental audits and participate in Trust-wide audits and freedom of information requests.
- Release deceased patients to funeral directors, ensuring identification is checked and hospital release forms are obtained.
- Advise and inform bereaved families on sensitive and emotive issues, such as tissue retrieval and post-mortem examinations.
