Senior Quantity Surveyor Role

The Senior Quantity Surveyor is a key member of the civils team, responsible for providing accurate and value-generating input to projects. This role involves working closely with delivery teams to ensure commercial aspects are carried out in accordance with the contract, company policies, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Manage and issue accurate, timely, and compliant notices and correspondence.
  2. Prepare and assess applications, valuations, cost/value reconciliation, and cost control.
  3. Forecast and provide input to monthly reports on value, cost, profit/loss, cash flow, and budget.
  4. Prepare and agree on applications for payment or the assessment and preparation of payment certificates.
  5. Develop project forecasting and assist with Risk and Value Management to optimize solutions.
  6. Monitor and review commercial risks with the project team, identifying, analyzing, and developing responses.
  7. Manage contracts, including contractual forms, methods of budgetary control, and relevant software applications.
  8. Prepare supply chain enquiries, negotiate, administer, and finalize/close out supply chain contracts.
  9. Ensure all notifications/documents are managed in accordance with the contract and customer/company policy.
  10. Liaise with site teams, subcontractors, and customers' representatives.
  11. Undertake record-keeping, including collating site records, preparing meeting packs, meeting invites, and taking meeting minutes.
  12. Provide contractual advice to the project/site team as needed.
  13. Maintain awareness of different construction contracts in current use.
  14. Understand Client and Partners Environment and Sustainability Policies, Processes, and statutory requirements affecting the company's operations and implement requirements within their discipline.
Required Qualifications, Skills, Behaviours, and Attributes:
  1. Demonstrate financial and commercial acumen.
  2. Have NEC3 experience.
  3. Demonstrate forecasting experience.
  4. Manage subcontractors and work packages.
  5. Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  6. Practical approach, logical thought process, and methodical way of working.
  7. Creative and innovative problem-solving approach.
  8. Experience in setting up and/or operating office management systems, including filing systems and document control and distribution.
  9. Technical minute-taking at contractual meetings and ability to collate information and prepare reports.
  10. Drafting contractual correspondence on behalf of the Project Manager and preparation of payment certificates and interim financial reports.
  11. Contributing to procurement and contract strategies.
  12. Negotiating and team-working skills and ability to motivate and lead.
  13. Strong analytical skills.
  14. Demonstrate legal, contractual, and construction knowledge.
  15. Confidence and ability to assert influence.
  16. Hold an RICS/CICES accredited Degree (or equivalent) or enrolled on an accredited part-time post-graduate Degree.
