Construction Estimator Assistant

The Senior Quantity Surveyor is a key member of the civils team, responsible for providing accurate and value-generating input to projects. This role involves working closely with delivery teams to ensure commercial aspects are carried out in accordance with the contract, company policies, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage and issue accurate, timely, and compliant notices and correspondence.
- Prepare and assess applications, valuations, cost/value reconciliation, and cost control.
- Forecast and provide input to monthly reports on value, cost, profit/loss, cash flow, and budget.
- Prepare and agree on applications for payment or the assessment and preparation of payment certificates.
- Develop project forecasting and assist with Risk and Value Management to optimize solutions.
- Monitor and review commercial risks with the project team, identifying, analyzing, and developing responses.
- Manage contracts, including contractual forms, methods of budgetary control, and relevant software applications.
- Prepare supply chain enquiries, negotiate, administer, and finalize/close out supply chain contracts.
- Ensure all notifications/documents are managed in accordance with the contract and customer/company policy.
- Liaise with site teams, subcontractors, and customers' representatives.
- Undertake record-keeping, including collating site records, preparing meeting packs, meeting invites, and taking meeting minutes.
- Provide contractual advice to the project/site team as needed.
- Maintain awareness of different construction contracts in current use.
- Understand Client and Partners Environment and Sustainability Policies, Processes, and statutory requirements affecting the company's operations and implement requirements within their discipline.
- Demonstrate financial and commercial acumen.
- Have NEC3 experience.
- Demonstrate forecasting experience.
- Manage subcontractors and work packages.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Practical approach, logical thought process, and methodical way of working.
- Creative and innovative problem-solving approach.
- Experience in setting up and/or operating office management systems, including filing systems and document control and distribution.
- Technical minute-taking at contractual meetings and ability to collate information and prepare reports.
- Drafting contractual correspondence on behalf of the Project Manager and preparation of payment certificates and interim financial reports.
- Contributing to procurement and contract strategies.
- Negotiating and team-working skills and ability to motivate and lead.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Demonstrate legal, contractual, and construction knowledge.
- Confidence and ability to assert influence.
- Hold an RICS/CICES accredited Degree (or equivalent) or enrolled on an accredited part-time post-graduate Degree.
