Railway Fitter Position in Crewe

We are looking for a skilled Railway Fitter to join our team at Shorterm Group in Crewe. The ideal candidate will have experience in mechanical engineering and be able to perform tasks such as bogie overhaul, wheel set overhaul, and bearing mounting.

Job Description:

  1. Perform mechanical overhauls of rail bogies, including damage repair and engineering
  2. Carry out wheel set overhaul, repair, and analysis
  3. Clean and repair bogie chassis
  4. Engineer and repair bogie and gearbox components
  5. Exchange wheels on wheel sets
  6. Mount bearings, axles, and wheels
  7. Overhaul, repair, and analyze components and sub-assemblies
  8. Produce spare parts through re-engineering

Requirements:

  • Time served and apprentice trained in mechanical engineering
  • NVQ level 2 in a Mechanical discipline
  • 18 months or more experience in a Vehicle Manufacturing environment or similar industry

Working Conditions:

  • Monday to Friday shifts
  • 37 hours per week
  • Estimated salary: £40,000 - £55,000 per annum
