Job Summary

The Ministry of Defence is seeking a highly motivated and organised individual to fill the role of Army Secretary. As a key member of the Royal Anglian Regiment, you will be responsible for providing administrative support and coordination across the East of England region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver and contribute to regimental publications, publicity, and information, including the annual Journal, Newsletter, website, and social media posts.
  • Work with external agencies to promote the Regiment to internal and external audiences.
  • Promote and develop the Regiment's identity, reputation, and civil relationships.
  • Liaise with local Mayors and MPs to maintain awareness of Regimental activities and influence network.
  • Maintain close links with Freedom Towns/Cities and coordinate Freedom Parades as required.
  • Support welfare efforts for veterans and their families, and act as the Regiment's local point of contact on veterans' issues.
  • Lead on operational and other casualties, including aftercare, and liaise with Service Charities, Local Authorities, NHS, and others to secure support for veterans.
  • Support the Regimental Association, prioritising and coordinating major regimental and commemorative events, and act as Secretary for the four County Committees.
  • Foster a strong association with Royal Anglian badged Army Cadet Force and Combined Cadet Force, providing mentorship and advice on military matters.
  • Coordinate military-led commemorative events as required.
  • Act as the Regimental Point of Contact for the Regimental Museums in Norwich, Bury St Edmunds, Chelmsford, and Duxford.
  • Support the County Colonels of Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, and Cambridgeshire, and provide advice to all R ANGLIAN units linked to these counties.
Requirements

The successful candidate will be confident, outgoing, and able to deal with a wide variety of people, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. They will be able to translate sophisticated issues into a clear message and engage optimally at all levels of seniority, with both military and civilian colleagues.

The candidate must be highly motivated, proactive, dynamic, and able to set clear priorities and work with minimal direction. They will possess good judgement skills, be able to anticipate issues, and determine solutions.

They will need good leadership skills to empower a small workforce of MOD employed personnel and offer positive mentorship, advice, and leadership to all Branches of the Regimental Association.

Being IT literate with a knowledge of current social media and ideally with a solid understanding of web-based communication would be expected.
