Senior Design Consultant - Exterior Side Mirrors

About the Job:

Contechs Consulting is a leading provider of Automotive, Design, Engineering, Technology and Innovation Recruitment Consultancy. We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Design Consultant to join our team on a 6 month contract basis.

Job Summary:

As a Senior Design Consultant, you will be responsible for delivering complete design proposals according to design brief and project constraints in assigned programs using CATIA v.5. You will also participate in exterior design reviews, attend project and engineering meetings, and produce creative detailed design solutions fulfilling complex technical criteria.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Create, deliver & lead complete design proposals according to design brief and project constraints in assigned programs using CATIA v.5.
  2. Participate in exterior design reviews.
  3. Attend project and engineering meetings.
  4. Produce creative detailed design solutions fulfilling complex technical criteria.
  5. 3D package modelling.
  6. Design Sizing Analysis.
  7. Sub system load analysis.
  8. Working Knowledge of Legal and Legislative Requirements.

Nice to Have Criteria:
  1. Deliver design proposals according to design brief and project constraints in assigned programs using CATIA v.6.
  2. Body packaging, concept studies and detailed design, including sizing calculations and use of CAD / CAE to create viable sections.
  3. Lead and support of design activities carried out in-house and at suppliers if required.
  4. Build support (prototype and production).
  5. Ensure components and assemblies adhere to applicable industry and business standards.
  6. Supporting problem solving activities during virtual and physical builds.
  7. Assess all engineering prototypes to determine any associated issues or risks, mitigating when, and where found.
  8. Research whether the design is feasible, functional and cost-effective.
  9. Estimate cost limits and budgets for new design.
  10. Represent the department in design reviews and during test and development activities if required.
  11. Design components to the lowest feasible weight.
  12. Co-ordinate own design work to deliver timely design releases and meeting all design for manufacture input from supplier(s).
  13. Develop and specify GD&T data set on CAD models or drawings, taking into account all inputs from parts suppliers, assembly processes and dimensional management studies.
  14. Creating presentation material for Design Reviews.
  15. Producing detailed manufacturing drawings.
  16. Maintain and manage engineering records and designs.
