Higher Assistant Psychologist

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Higher Assistant Psychologist to join our Community Forensic Psychiatry Service. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with our experienced multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality care and treatment to individuals with forensic histories.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for providing direct psychological interventions to service users, working under the supervision of our Senior Psychologists. You will also contribute to the development of psychological case formulations, risk assessments, and the planning and delivery of psychological interventions.
As a Higher Assistant Psychologist, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients, including those with complex mental health needs and forensic histories. You will be expected to work independently, using your skills and knowledge to develop and implement effective interventions.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct psychological interventions to service users, under the supervision of Senior Psychologists
- Contribute to the development of psychological case formulations, risk assessments, and the planning and delivery of psychological interventions
- Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality care and treatment to individuals with forensic histories
- Develop and maintain databases for the purposes of data-analysis, using software such as Excel or SPSS for Windows
- Attend and contribute to multi-disciplinary meetings, CPA reviews, and ward rounds
We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled individual with a strong background in psychology. The successful candidate will have:
- An upper second-class honours degree or higher in psychology
- Entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society
- Experience of working with people with serious mental disorders, learning disability, and complex presentations/challenging behaviours
- Experience of completing specialised psychological assessments
- Experience of working with structured risk assessment tools, such as the HCR20/SAPROF
