Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled DBA to play a key role in optimizing our database performance and providing vital support to development teams. As a High-Performance Database Engineer, you will work closely with the Senior DBA to ensure our SQL Server estate is secure, reliable, and performing at its best.

Main Responsibilities

  • Query Optimization: Identify and resolve poorly performing SQL queries by restructuring them, adjusting indexes, or providing alternative solutions.
  • Database Design: Advise the development team on best practices for writing SQL queries and ensuring efficient design.
  • Maintenance and Management: Assist the Senior DBA in managing and maintaining SQL Server databases and processes.
  • System Performance: Ensure optimal system performance, availability, and security by proactively monitoring the system's health.
  • Security Policies: Help implement and control SQL security policies in collaboration with the Head of Development.

Requirements

  1. Experience: Experience with SQL Server databases and processes.
  2. Knowledge: Knowledge of best practices for SQL query writing and database design.
  3. Skills: Experience in monitoring and maintaining database performance, availability, and security.
  4. Familiarity: Familiarity with implementing security policies and automating database processes.

Salary Range: £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
