Project Overview: The project will focus on the intelligent design, manufacturing, and testing of a novel miniaturized robotic end-effector to allow carrying out welding and repairing tasks in confined and challenging spaces. The successful candidate will be based at the Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre in Manufacturing and On-Wing Technology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and test a novel miniaturized robotic end-effector for on-platform repair automation.
- Collaborate with industrial partners to ensure the project meets the required specifications.
- Conduct research and analysis to identify key challenges and opportunities in on-platform repair automation.
- Develop and implement novel control and kinematics algorithms for the robotic end-effector.
- Work closely with the research team to ensure the project is completed within the given timeframe and budget.
Requirements: To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A first or upper second class degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, Mechanical, or Computer Science.
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills, with a well-rounded academic background.
- Demonstrated ability to develop precision Mechatronics systems and algorithms.
- Ability to develop kinematic and/or dynamic analysis of Mechanical/Robotic systems.
- Background with relevant packages, such as MATLAB, SolidWorks/Creo, ROS/OpenCV/python, LabVIEW/C languages.
- A driven, professional, and self-dependent work attitude is essential.
- Experience working within the industry will be an advantage.
