About the Role
The Central Underwriting teams are located throughout the UK, forming part of Hiscox UK's central operations function. As a Commercial Lines Underwriter, you will be responsible for the technical underwriting of new business and renewals across our broker business.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite commercial products in line with high standards
- Work towards set targets, including profitability, conversion, and productivity
- Develop sales skills and appreciation of sales and underwriting strategy
- Negotiate with internal and external parties, including brokers
- Challenge non-standard underwriting decisions, leveraging product specialists and underwriting managers
- Show courage and innovation by identifying process improvements
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years' experience as a commercial lines underwriter, with knowledge of Professional Indemnity and exposure to Management Liability and Cyber
- Logical and analytical thinker
- Excellent communicator and presenter
- Natural flair for building relationships with brokers
- Ambitious and driven, with self-motivation and result-orientation
- Ideal candidate has a degree qualification and working towards Diploma CII or exempt through relevant experience
