We are seeking an experienced Special School Nursing Specialist to join our team at Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust. As a Band 6 nurse, you will be responsible for providing skilled and effective nursing care to children with complex health needs in special schools.

Job Description

About the Role

  • To assess the health needs of children and young people in special schools and agree individual and school health plans.
  • To deliver day-to-day Special School Nursing Service to children with complex health needs.
  • To provide information and support to facilitate the child's and family's own choices regarding nursing care and therapy input.
  • To administer medication as prescribed and ensure safe storage of medicines.
  • To manage the provision of continence products to children and young people in the school.
  • To target disadvantaged or underrepresented children who may not have had a full child health service before starting school.
  • To empower parents by providing information and support to facilitate them in making healthy life choices regarding their child's welfare.

Main Responsibilities

  • Clinical assessment and planning.
  • Nursing care and management.
  • Medication administration and storage.
  • Continence product management.
  • Parental support and education.

Requirements

  • RN qualification.
  • Experience of negotiating and liaising with multi-agency teams.
  • Leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of national policies for children and families.
  • Evidence of recent professional development related to SEN.
