Job Title: Ocean Trade Assistant

We are seeking an experienced Ocean Trade Assistant to join our sea freight forwarding team based in Birmingham. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supporting our pricing team and trade managers in short-term rate negotiation and rate guidelines, as well as coordinating with operations teams on booking escalation and resolution.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate RFQs and populate rates
  • Analyze and benchmark RFQ 2nd and 3rd rounds
  • Support trade managers with spot and short-term rate negotiation
  • Manage carrier allocations
  • Coordinate with operations teams on booking escalation and resolution
  • Cover for trade managers during absence or leave
  • Liaise with pricing team on rate guidelines
Requirements:
  • Ocean freight background is essential
  • Good knowledge of ocean carrier landscape
  • Understanding of ocean market and trades
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong process and systems awareness
  • Excellent attention to detail
