We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Highway Engineer to join our Capital Maintenance Team in the Strategic Infrastructure Directorate at Calderdale Council.
As a Senior Highway Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the maintenance and upkeep of our roads and footways, working closely with other departments, contractors, and the public to minimize disruption to road users.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical guidance and support in the planning, design, and execution of maintenance projects
- Assess road conditions and determine appropriate maintenance strategies
- Manage multiple complex projects and delivery programmes, ensuring efficient delivery within budget and in compliance with relevant standards and regulations
- Collaborate with other departments, contractors, and the public to ensure effective coordination and minimal disruption
Requirements:
- Highway engineering professional with a background in Construction, Engineering, Highways, or a related field
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience of managing staff, contractors, and subcontractors, and leading project teams
- Ability to identify and manage Health and Safety risks, both in design and construction
- Working knowledge of the Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels
