Cafe Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cafe / Kitchen Manager to join our team at YHA South Downs. As a key member of our hospitality team, you will be responsible for leading the food and beverage operation, ensuring high standards of quality and service, and driving sales and profitability.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in managing a kitchen team, with experience in menu planning, stock control, and health and safety compliance. You will be a strong communicator, with excellent leadership and team management skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service.

• Manage the food and beverage operation, including menu planning, stock control, and inventory management
• Lead a team of kitchen staff, providing guidance, support, and training to ensure high standards of quality and service
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including food safety and hygiene standards
• Monitor and control costs, including labor, food, and supplies
• Develop and implement strategies to drive sales and profitability, including menu engineering and pricing

• Proven experience in managing a kitchen team, with a strong track record in menu planning, stock control, and health and safety compliance
• Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with colleagues, customers, and suppliers
• Passion for delivering exceptional customer service, with a focus on quality, safety, and sustainability
• Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays
