As a key member of the Farrans Construction team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the financial success of our projects. Your expertise as a Quantity Surveyor will be instrumental in monitoring costs, maximizing revenue, and minimizing liabilities.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate financial reporting to achieve the best commercial results for our projects.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with our supply chain partners and clients.
  • Manage subcontractor and supplier accounts, ensuring financial and contractual compliance.
  • Place orders with the supply chain in accordance with our procurement schedule.
  • Complete measurements and valuations of work executed, ensuring they meet contract conditions.
  • Ensure timely payments to subcontractors and suppliers, aligning with cash targets.
  • Ensure Farrans Construction complies with all contractual requirements.
  • Monitor project expenditure against budget, identifying areas for cost optimization.
  • Provide analysis of cost overruns and projections, informing business decisions.
  • Explore opportunities to maximize value and minimize costs.
  • Liaise with clients on commercial issues, including variations, claims, and additional payments.
  • Identify legitimate contractual claim situations and prepare documentation for clients.
  • Strive for continuous improvement within the commercial process and your area of responsibility.
  • Adhere to all business compliance requirements, aligning with Company policies.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in a construction QS role, working on major projects.
  • Strong understanding of modern building techniques, plant, and equipment, and logistical needs.
  • Knowledge of construction contract conditions.
  • Appreciation of the impact of cost on project completion and development of construction solutions.
  • Educated to degree level in Quantity Surveying/Commercial Management or equivalent qualification.
  • Full driving license.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and database software.
