We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Specialist Teacher to join our Health Related Education Team (HRET) in Nottinghamshire.

About the Role

This is a 0.8 (4 days/week) permanent specialist teacher post covering the South of the County: Rushcliffe, Gedling, Broxtowe, and Hucknall. The successful applicant will be required to teach individual pupils and groups in different settings, sometimes online, and advise staff in schools and other settings on appropriate strength-based adjustments, strategies, and provision for children and young people who are unable to attend school due to physical, medical, and mental health needs.

The role involves close liaison with parents/carers, schools, and partner agencies in the Local Authority and Health. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate data and information related to children with medical and health needs requiring or receiving support from HRET, producing accurate reports, recommendations, and information for senior officers, parents/carers, schools, and others as required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach individual pupils and groups in different settings, including online
  • Advise staff in schools and other settings on strength-based adjustments, strategies, and provision
  • Maintain accurate data and information related to children with medical and health needs
  • Produce accurate reports, recommendations, and information for senior officers, parents/carers, schools, and others
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Qualified teacher status
  • A minimum of 3 years post-qualification teaching experience in a mainstream or special school
  • A high level of personal drive and commitment to excellent customer care and the ability to set an example for other staff
  • Knowledge and experience of working with children with emotional based school avoidance
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to teach at all key stages where needed (KS1-4)
  • Ability to work independently, make decisions, challenge where necessary, and solve problems
  • Knowledge and understanding of the SEN Code of Practice and how it is implemented in schools
Benefits

The team is based at the HRET building on the Fountaindale School site. Teaching sessions can be in the pupil's home, school, HRET Base, or community setting, as required. The post is term-time only, MPS/UPS + SEN 1 £2539 (pro rata). Daily access to a car is essential due to the geographical area covered by the post.
