Project Accountant Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Accountant to join our Finance Team at Bradford College. As a key member of the team, you will provide financial support and guidance for a portfolio of business projects, ensuring effective and efficient management of financial aspects throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise and support College managers in developing new project initiatives, contributing to project business case options, and modelling financial scenarios.
  • Ensure projects demonstrate value for money and proactively challenge instances that do not appear to deliver economy, efficiency, and effectiveness.
  • Prepare and review forward projections of performance and cashflows.
  • Produce financial analysis as required by the project sponsor and College managers to assist with decision-making.
  • Develop reporting templates and tools in line with project operational lead and funder requirements.
  • Review project performance with project operational leads and advise on income recognition in the College's management and statutory accounts.
  • Support the Head of Finance and Procurement with operational and strategic direction and development of the Finance Department.
  • Financial planning support - undertake monthly and quarterly forecasting of project income and expenditure.
Requirements
  • CCAB/CIMA fully qualified.
  • GCSE 4 – 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths.
  • GCSE 4 - 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in English.
  • Experience working in the public sector.
  • Experience in budget setting and financial planning.
  • Experience in producing management accounts, variance analysis, and financial reporting.
  • Experience participating in year-end audits.
