Community Podiatrist

We are seeking a highly skilled Specialist Podiatrist to join our East Cheshire NHS Trust Community Podiatry Service on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing routine podiatry services, wound care, nail surgery, biomechanical assessment, and orthotic provision to high-risk patients.
The East Cheshire Podiatry Service operates in various settings, including hospital inpatients, community clinics, health centers, and GP surgeries, providing advanced clinical foot services to the local population. Travel is an essential aspect of this role, and the candidate must be able to fulfill this requirement.
To be successful in this position, the candidate must hold a BSc (Hons) in Podiatry or a Diploma in Podiatric Medicine, along with a Certificate in Local Anaesthesia. Evidence of Continued Professional Development is also essential. NHS experience and working in the community are mandatory.
Main DutiesThe Specialist Podiatrist will be responsible for:
- Acting as a Clinical Specialist in the Podiatry Service, undertaking triage, assessment, and treatment of referred patients.
- Undertaking work in a minimum of one specialist area, including wound care, nail surgery, or biomechanics.
- Supporting the development of Podiatrists, Podiatry Assistants, and Podiatry students as a Clinical Educator.
- Supporting Team Managers and Advanced Clinical Specialists in the day-to-day running of the clinics and assisting in service improvement initiatives.

Person SpecificationThe ideal candidate will possess:
- HCPC registration
- Certificate in Local Anaesthesia
- Membership of a relevant professional body
- Clinical educators training
- Attendance at degree-level postgraduate courses relevant to the specialist area or working towards this
The successful candidate will have:
- Proven post-registration experience, some of which is in a relevant setting or associated area
The ideal candidate will possess:

- Post-registration knowledge relevant to the specialist area and evidenced by CPD
- Knowledge of recent NHS legislation and recommendations
