Compliance Policy & Advice Manager

Salary: £60,000 per annum

Hours: Full time - 35 hours

Contract: Permanent

Location: Hybrid Working (Head Office, West Bromwich)

The West Brom is seeking a Compliance Policy & Advice Manager to join our Risk team. The purpose of this role is to provide sound, accurate, and commercial advice on regulatory matters affecting the business, enabling it to operate in accordance with industry best practice and meet regulatory standards.

The role holder will be responsible for line management responsibilities for the Compliance Business Partners and provide input into the Compliance, Data Protection, and Financial Crime Risk Management Frameworks and Policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead a small team of Compliance Business Partners.
  • Develop and extend the team's knowledge and competence in technical areas to minimize the impact of staff turnover and maintain continuity of support.
  • Provide advice and guidance to the business on technical regulatory issues, utilizing broad financial services knowledge to contribute to policy changes to in-house regulations.
  • Ensure the Society attains the highest standards of conduct and data protection regulatory compliance in all areas of business operation.
  • Provide subject matter expert advice on conduct-related regulatory sourcebooks and horizon scanning overviews of relevant Prudential Compliance matters.
  • Meet regulatory timescales by providing well-structured summaries of proposed regulatory change to the business and collating responses to the regulator as required.
  • Participate in and lead Society projects and initiatives to improve processes and products offered to customers.
  • Produce MI and regulatory update reports for presentation at various levels of committees.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Previous retail banking/building society experience and exposure to Compliance/Risk activity.
  • Proven team leadership experience.
  • Regulatory/Compliance examinations essential, e.g., FPC, CeMap, AdvCeMap, CERGI.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate with and present to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • High level of computer literacy.
