We are seeking exceptional Associate Tutors to teach in sports rehabilitation/Physiotherapy on an occasional or sessional basis. The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of the academic and professional nature of the subject and be able to communicate it with clarity, academic rigour and enthusiasm.
Key Responsibilities
- Obtain and familiarize yourself with relevant course documents, including syllabus, methods of assessment, teaching methods, and course dates.
- Liaise with the programme team to understand requirements, coordinate plans, and discuss changes.
- Prepare effective course material that fulfils the aims of the course, incorporating a student-centred approach.
- Deliver sessions, lecturing, leading discussions, and providing guidance and advice as required.
- Prepare and mark written work, studio work, class work, and examination papers within the assessment procedures.
- Provide constructive and timely feedback to students on their progress.
- Keep records of assessment and attendance as required.
- Observe class opening and closing times strictly.
- Inform the Programme Director/Leader and the class of your absence, where unavoidable, as far in advance as possible.
- Provide a course/work plan, set of objectives, and reading lists to students, where appropriate.
Requirements
- A good honours degree and/or equivalent professional qualification.
- Ability to achieve Fellow Status as part of the Higher Education Academy's Professional Recognition scheme.
- A good level of knowledge relevant to the subject and professional area.
- Evidence of undertaking continuous professional development (CPD).
- A sound understanding of pedagogy.
- A broad understanding of the subject area.
- Ability to design teaching and learning.
- Ability to employ appropriate assessment methods.
- Ability to undertake administrative duties in an accurate and timely fashion.
- Ability to plan workloads.
- Ability to identify areas for improvement and use initiative and problem-solving skills to improve performance.
- Ability to communicate and disseminate complex and conceptual ideas in a variety of ways.
- Ability to develop productive working relationships as part of a professional team.
