We are seeking an experienced and skilled Biomedical Scientist to join our Haematology and Coagulation team at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supervising the Coagulation and Haematology section, ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory services, and contributing to the development of our team and services.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and manage the Coagulation and Haematology section, ensuring high-quality results and efficient laboratory operations.
- Ensure the maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment, including analysers and other equipment.
- Monitor and improve internal and external quality-control performance, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Manage stock control and ordering of reagents and materials, ensuring timely delivery and optimal usage.
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and staff competency logs, ensuring compliance with ISO:15189 standards.
- Deputise for the Haematology Lead in their absence, providing leadership and guidance to the team.
- Oversee the raising of purchase orders and receipting invoices, as well as networking with referral providers and dealing with information requests and problems.
- HCPC Registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
- Biomedical Science Degree or equivalent.
- Appropriate Post Graduate qualifications, such as IBMS Higher Specialist diploma or IBMS Diploma in Biomedical Science, Masters or equivalent.
- Additional specialist qualifications, if required.
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
- Holding or working towards a qualification that supports management responsibilities, such as health and safety, training officer, or quality management.
- Extensive practical experience of working in a Biomedical Science laboratory.
- Experience of managing people and teams.
- Experience of Pathology IT systems.
- Practical experience of Quality Management and Quality Management Systems.
- Experience of performing and evaluating Risk Assessments.
