About the Role:

The Workshop Controller will be responsible for the smooth operation of the Workshop team, ensuring the team is well-organized and productive. This role involves allocating tasks to team members based on technical requirements and customer demand, as well as holding daily meetings to keep the team informed and focused on meeting customer expectations.

This is a supervisory role that requires technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to inspire and mentor team members to develop their technical capabilities. The Workshop Controller will also be responsible for promoting the Halfords Values and ensuring that the team adheres to them.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Allocate tasks to team members based on technical requirements and customer demand
  • Holding daily meetings to keep the team informed and focused on meeting customer expectations
  • Supervise and mentor team members to develop their technical capabilities
  • Promote the Halfords Values and ensure that the team adheres to them

Requirements:

  • Technically trained to Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance standard, or equivalent time served
  • Experience of managing/supervising a team/workshop to drive performance and delivery
  • Excellent customer approach - ability to communicate clearly and simply to customers
  • Experience of developing colleagues through delivery of technical training
  • Experience of exceeding customer metrics - working with management to support in driving key metrics and KPI's
  • Experience of meeting compliance standards across Health and Safety and quality
  • Experience of labour force scheduling, with proven time management skills
  • Must hold a current full valid driving licence
