About the Role

The Corporate Programme Management Office within the Chief Executives Directorate seeks a skilled individual to manage the Tram Private Finance Initiative contract. The postholder will liaise with the tram operator and various directorates to respond to contract queries and planning requests.

As the main contact for Committee meetings, the successful applicant will address queries from Council Members and the general public on tram related matters. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of managing long term complex contracts, preferably private finance initiative contracts.

Key responsibilities include managing payment mechanisms, performance frameworks, and long-term contractor relationships. The candidate should be highly numerate and literate to produce written reports and interpret statistical data.

In addition, the successful applicant will require knowledge of the planning and legislative framework for transportation projects, including light rail. They will need to conduct contractual negotiations of a commercial and/or technical nature and resolve issues that arise.

Recognised project management methods and techniques in the development of major transport projects are also essential. The ability to effectively communicate complex technical information orally and in writing is crucial.

About You

The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of complex contract management, preferably in the private finance initiative sector. They will have excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to interpret statistical data and produce written reports.

A strong knowledge of transport planning and legislative frameworks is required, as well as experience in conducting contractual negotiations. The successful applicant will be a skilled project manager with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
