Accounting Assistant Manager

Key Responsibilities
The ideal candidate for this Junior Financial Analyst role will have the ability to perform a variety of financial functions, including processing bank transactions, maintaining the GoCardless direct debit system, and preparing weekly debtors reporting.
Responsibilities:
- You will be responsible for taking ownership of billing operations, including organizing the billing timetable and liaising with admissions and teaching staff to prepare invoices.
- Liaise with the Senior Leadership Team to escalate any issues related to credit control, ensuring alignment with school policies.
- Prepare weekly debtors reporting, highlighting KPIs on cash collected and age of debt, along with relevant action plans and deadlines.
- Maintain the GoCardless direct debit system and address queries from parents in a timely manner.
- Process bank transactions, including daily bank postings and monthly bank reconciliations.
- Provide administrative support by responding to parent inquiries via email and phone.
- Calculate Early Year Funding Scheme (EYFS) claims, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
- Ensure month-end procedures are carried out according to the established timetable.
- Support the Senior Accountant with accruals, prepayments, and fixed asset entries during month-end journals.
- Act as a point of contact for the Finance Assistant, providing guidance and support when required.
- Assist with annual statutory audits under the supervision of the Senior Accountant.
Requirements:
- A minimum Level 3 AAT qualification or active pursuit of an accountancy qualification is essential.
- Prior experience in a similar role is advantageous, with a strong preference for candidates having over five years of experience.
- Candidates should be articulate, communicative, and possess strong attention to detail.
- Familiarity with team-based work environments is highly valued.
- Excellent organization skills, enabling prioritization of tasks, are crucial.
- Critical thinking abilities will facilitate problem-solving and task completion within specified timescales.
