Job Title: Adult Phlebotomist

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Phlebotomist to join our team at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust. As a Phlebotomist, you will play a vital role in providing a high-quality phlebotomy service for both inpatients and outpatients.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide a venepuncture service within the Trust, adhering to UHP and departmental policies and procedures.
  2. Report any problems or concerns to your line manager promptly.
  3. Liaise with patients, carers, nursing and medical staff in a professional and courteous manner.
  4. Dispose of used equipment safely, reducing the risk of needle stick injury.
  5. Ensure request forms for blood are accurately completed with minimum acceptance data.
  6. Label and prepare samples correctly, meeting the acceptance criteria for the Pathology department.
  7. Assist senior staff in training new staff members.
  8. Be familiar and competent in the use of Pathology computer systems, iLAB & iCM.

Working Arrangements: The post holder will be expected to work flexibly, including Saturday, Sunday, and Bank Holiday mornings when required.

Person Specification: Applicants must have a basic general education and knowledge of phlebotomy. Payment for training will be made at AfC band 2 Standard rate.
