This permanent role offers an exciting opportunity to join our team based in Grangemouth. The position involves working on a shift pattern of 4 ON/4 OFF, with hours from 8am to 8pm during summer and 8am to 6pm during winter.

To be eligible for this position, applicants must have served a recognized apprenticeship or possess relevant qualifications, accompanied by practical experience in electrical and mechanical engineering disciplines.

The successful candidate will use technical expertise to undertake planned maintenance, respond to breakdowns, investigate faults, repair equipment, and improve installations and assets throughout the canal network, both land and water-based.

This role comes with a salary starting at £39,290 per annum, plus 11.25% flexibility allowance and £850 outdoor working allowance. Benefits include 28 days' annual leave rising to 30 after five years, public holidays, enhanced company sick pay, discounted shopping vouchers, and a contributory pension scheme with up to a 10% employer contribution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to delivering the agreed M&E planned preventative maintenance programme, new installations, planned inspections, effective fault diagnosis, and repair within your skill set, experience, knowledge, training, and ability.
  • Produce recommendations to minor problems and undertake project design and leadership where appropriate under supervision.
  • Comply with SC Health & Safety policy and defined standards, reporting incidents, accidents, and near misses.
  • Complete point-of-work risk assessments and adjust work methods when necessary.
  • Assist in drawing up Risk Assessments, Method Statements, Permits to Work, and Isolation Method Statements for works related to your area of expertise and knowledge.
  • Supervise and control works of the team, including M&E Technicians, Operatives, and contractors.
  • Prioritize workload and other competing elements of multiple planned preventative maintenance, minor works, projects, and contracts.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A recognized qualification or time-served apprenticeship in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering.
  • Knowledge and experience of working on multi-discipline sites, delivering works in an engineering environment.
  • A full driving license is required.
  • Health and Safety awareness/qualifications are essential.
  • Competence in issuing and using all company Permit to Work systems.
  • Risk assessment and method statement training is a prerequisite.
  • Experience in running and maintaining waterway infrastructure and industrial machinery, particularly with respect to electrical and mechanical disciplines, is desirable.
  • Practical experience of computerized maintenance management packages is preferred.
