About the Role


We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Education Support Specialist to join our team at HMP Wealstun. As a key member of our education department, you will play a vital role in supporting learners to achieve their academic goals.


Key Responsibilities



  • Deliver education inductions to new learners, promoting learning opportunities and identifying individual needs.
  • Administer basic skills assessments, screen for LDD needs, and write learning support plans.
  • Assist teachers with strategies to support inclusion across the curriculum.
  • Use data systems to confirm previous attainment and ensure accurate recording of initial assessment information.

Requirements



  • Understanding of how people learn and methods to enhance learning experiences.
  • Track record of working effectively with challenging behaviour.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good IT skills, including proficiency in Word and Excel.
  • Will to hold or work towards Level 2 qualifications in literacy and numeracy within an agreed timescale.
  • Will to hold or work towards a Level 2 or 3 qualification for Learning Support Practitioners within an agreed timescale.
