About the Job

Are you a skilled machinist with experience in milling? Our client is seeking a talented Milling Machine Setter/Operator to join their team on a permanent, full-time contract.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with modern machinery and equipment, including Heidenhain controls, and to develop your skills in a fast-paced industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Setting up and operating milling machines for rough and surface milling.
  • Carrying out some drilling work as part of the process.
  • Tweaking programmes on the machines to make sure tolerances are spot on.
  • Reading and interpreting technical drawings and job specifications.
  • Inspecting your work to ensure it meets high standards.
  • Keeping the machines running smoothly with basic maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Following health and safety regulations at all times.

Requirements:

  • Someone with hands-on experience in a setter/operator role, particularly on milling machines.
  • Knowledge of Heidenhain controls is essential.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings with excellent attention to detail.
  • A proactive problem-solver who's comfortable working in a fast-paced workshop environment.
  • Formal Qualifications are preferred, ideally Level 1 as a minimum – must have a knowledge of health and safety and be able to read from drawings.

What We Offer:

  • Hours: Monday to Friday Days Initially 7am to 3:30pm, with some lates 3:30pm to 2am with shift allowance.
  • Probation Period: Initial 3-month probation period to ensure the role is the right fit for you.
  • Holidays: 20 days plus bank holidays, increasing by one day with each year of service (up to 25 days).
  • Pay: Competitive salary £35,000 - £45,000 per annum based on skills and experience.
  • Training and Development: Opportunities to enhance your skills in a traditional, well-establish engineering environment.
