Berkshire College of Agriculture is a leading education provider in the South East, working across 4 main campuses at Slough and Langley, Windsor, Strodes-Egham, and Berkshire College of Agriculture-Maidenhead.

The Animal Centre Lead Technician will be responsible for ensuring the day-to-day safe and efficient running of the animal centre. This involves maintaining high standards of animal welfare and animal husbandry, as well as keeping accurate records.

About the Role
  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the team in daily operations, prioritizing tasks and managing resources effectively.
  • Collaborate with senior staff to develop policies and procedures that promote animal welfare and enhance the centre's reputation.
  • Conduct regular inspections of animal enclosures and facilities to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of animal populations, including births, deaths, and transfers.

Requirements
  • A Level 3 qualification or higher in animal management or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a similar role, with a strong understanding of animal welfare and husbandry practices.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and work in a fast-paced environment.
