We are seeking a skilled Commissioning Engineer - Fire Safety Specialist to join our team at Fire Design Solutions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the commissioning of Residential and Commercial Smoke Venting and Fire Alarm Systems.


This role includes the commissioning and certification of each project, with training provided as required. The successful candidate will visit client premises, mainly in the London area, with the possibility of nationwide travel and overnight stays.


The Commissioning Engineer will be required to commission fire alarm systems and smoke venting systems on a planned installation and emergency call-out basis in line with contracted expectations. To succeed in this role, the candidate will need an understanding of fan motors, inverters, and detection systems, as well as the ability to work to tight deadlines in accordance with project requirements and safely perform lone working.


The key responsibilities of this role include:



  • Commissioning of Fire Alarm and AOV systems
  • Inclusion on out of hours call out rota (currently one week in eight)
  • Administer accurate cause and effects
  • Programming of life safety systems
  • Ability to work from drawings and mark-ups
  • Liaise with Design, Project Management, and Maintenance departments
  • Ongoing job role administration, inclusive of timesheets, vehicle checklists, expense forms, etc.
  • Completion and sign-off of project certification

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a Fire Alarm commissioning background to BS5839 standards. Knowledge and experience of working with Kentec products is desirable. The successful candidate will be computer literate, have previous experience of working on site, and be able to work with multiple discipline projects.
