We are currently seeking a highly skilled Academic Policy Officer to join our Governance Team, based in London or Brussels.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for pursuing projects within our EU workstream, both at EU-level and member state-level under the guidance of the Head of AI Governance. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to contribute to multiple impactful initiatives shaping EU AI policy.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Pursue projects within our EU workstream, collaborating with international governments, think tanks, and research institutions;
  • Develop technical governance outputs, such as memos, submissions, and legal interpretations;
  • Provide written advice on government queries related to AI safety and Apollo Research's core agenda;
  • Lead policy analysis and oversight on thematic tracks for the Code of Practice and implementation process of the EU's AI Act;

Requirements:

  • Degree in a relevant field (e.g., law, politics, computer science);
  • Proven experience in policy analysis and development;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Familiarity with EU AI policies and regulations;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
