About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our team at Bright Horizons Winchester Day Nursery and Preschool. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of our children.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook nutritious meals for children, adhering to dietary requirements and food safety guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, adhering to internal and external standards.
  • Support the Chef in menu planning, food preparation, and kitchen management.
  • Ensure accurate stock management, budgeting, and record-keeping.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a positive and safe environment for children and staff.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a kitchen role, preferably in a childcare setting.
  • Passion for nutrition and inspiring healthy eating habits.
  • Food Safety CIEH L2 or above (or equivalent) – must be passed on day 1 in post.
  • Sound knowledge of COSHH and managing dietary requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work under pressure.
