Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Business Development Director/Practice Operations Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading our business development and operations functions, driving growth and improvement, and ensuring the efficient management of our practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Management and Planning
    • Develop and implement business strategies to drive growth and improvement
    • Conduct market research and analysis to inform business decisions
  • Financial Accountability
    • Manage practice finances, including budgeting and forecasting
    • Ensure financial compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Property Management
    • Oversee the management of practice premises and facilities
    • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Organizational and Governance Responsibilities
    • Develop and implement organizational policies and procedures
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • HR/Workforce Management
    • Develop and implement HR policies and procedures
    • Manage staff performance and development
  • Patient Access
    • Develop and implement strategies to improve patient access and experience
    • Ensure compliance with patient confidentiality and data protection regulations
  • Information Technology Management/Governance
    • Develop and implement IT strategies to support business operations
    • Ensure compliance with IT security and data protection regulations
  • Communication and Working with Other Partners
    • Develop and maintain relationships with external partners and stakeholders
    • Ensure effective communication and collaboration with internal teams
Person Specification

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced individual with the following qualifications and characteristics:

  • Essential
    • Good standard of education with excellent literacy, information technology, and numeracy skills
    • Ability to identify and negotiate opportunities to enhance service delivery
    • Excellent communication skills (written, oral, and presenting)
    • Strong IT skills
    • Excellent leadership skills, including chairing meetings and facilitating group work
    • Able to understand and implement HR policies, staff rights, and responsibilities
    • Strategic thinker and negotiator with the ability to develop services
    • Ability to motivate staff even under challenging circumstances
    • Ability to prioritize, delegate, and work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
    • Able to represent the organization in a professional and capable manner
    • Ability to document and keep accurate records of all aspects of HR and organizational matters
    • Experience of working with the general public
    • Experience of managing accounting procedures, including budget and cash flow forecasting
    • Experience of managing large multidisciplinary teams
    • Experience of human resource management
    • Experience of performance management, including appraisals, staff development, and disciplinary/grievance procedures
    • Experience of successfully developing and implementing projects
    • Experience of workforce planning, forecasting, and development
  • Desirable
    • Educated to degree level in healthcare or business
    • Leadership and/or management qualification
    • EMIS user skills
    • Experience of working in a healthcare setting
    • NHS/primary care general practice experience
    • Relevant health and safety experience
    • Flexibility to work outside core office hours
    • Disclosure Barring Service Check (DBS)
