Vacancy Overview

East Lothian Council is seeking an experienced leader to join its senior leadership team for Children's Services. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the high-quality delivery of social work services in line with the principles of The Promise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead three children's social work teams, including the Disability team, the Throughcare and Aftercare team, and the Wellbeing and Justice team.
  • Line manage three team leaders and contribute to the development of social work practice.
  • Lead on corporate parenting work and work with the Home Office to ensure safe solutions for unaccompanied asylum-seeking children.
  • Develop and implement improvement activity to support the delivery of social work services.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in children's social work, including knowledge of the complex policy and legislative landscape.
  • Proven track record in leading people and turning vision and strategy into action.
  • Acute understanding of the impact of trauma and a champion of relationship-based practice and nurture.
