Electrical Design Engineer Role

L3Harris Technologies, a leading aerospace and defense technology innovator, seeks an Electrical Design Engineer to join our team in Brighton, UK.

As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will work closely with our Production and Design teams to generate conceptual solutions and designs, produce detailed CAD design layouts and manufacturing drawings, and analyze electrical requirements to determine feasibility within time and cost constraints.

You will also develop block diagrams and interface control documentation, conduct experimental tests and evaluate results, select suitable components and equipment, and participate in design reviews and present technical briefings.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team and contribute to the design of high-performance electro-mechanical systems and pneumatic technology for airborne weapon carriage release.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop electrical/electronic concepts based on abstract schemes and/or customer specifications
  • Analyze electrical requirements to determine feasibility within time and cost constraints
  • Develop block diagrams and interface control documentation
  • Conduct experimental tests and evaluate results
  • Select suitable components and equipment
  • Participate in design reviews and present technical briefings
Requirements:
  • Electrical design experience with a relevant degree qualification
  • Ability to generate schematics to meet design requirements from first principles
  • Experience in all aspects of PCB design/layout
  • Proven knowledge of electro-mechanical systems
  • Understanding of implementation of motors, solenoids, and their control systems
  • Understanding and appreciation of both digital and analogue electronic disciplines
  • Understanding of material properties and selection criteria for application
  • Manufacturing methods suitable for the design intent
