Job Description


The Remote Engineering Design & Robotics Team is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to design and develop bespoke remote handling equipment, robotic systems, and tooling for nuclear operations. Key areas of focus include supporting plant intervention, radioactive waste processing, and decommissioning operations.


This role encompasses a full project lifecycle, including consultancy, concept design, detailed design, manufacturing, testing, and on-site operations.



  1. Use AutoCAD to produce 2D detailed design drawings and schematics for control panels, machinery, and instrumentation.
  2. Conduct and document detailed technical and design calculations.
  3. Support the build, installation, and commissioning of plant equipment and inactive test rigs for trialling new technologies.
  4. Prepare critical product safety documentation, including risk assessments, method statements, and maintenance manuals.
  5. Ensure adherence to all legislative, regulatory, and company standards, including CE/UKCA marking, safety, quality, and risk policies.


Required Skills and Qualifications


A Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Control & Instrumentation Engineering or related field with relevant experience is required. Experience with 2D CAD design packages, ideally AutoCAD, is also necessary.


Working knowledge of safety legislation, quality standards, and CE/UKCA marking requirements is expected. Familiarity with nuclear plant operations and remote operations equipment is highly desirable.
