We are seeking a highly skilled Minerals and Waste Planning Officer to join our team at Wiltshire Council. As a key member of our Planning Service, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our communities.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work on a range of activities associated with the development and restoration of mines, quarries, and other facilities managing waste. You will be responsible for a caseload of planning applications, reporting to the Planning Manager, and working closely with stakeholders to ensure the sustainable delivery of aggregate minerals and waste management facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the preparation, monitoring, and review of minerals and waste policies and the supporting evidence base.
  • Research planning and industry issues relevant to Wiltshire and the local sub-regional area.
  • Prepare and deliver reports with recommendations for project leads/teams to use when developing policies.
  • Work on a range of activities associated with the development and restoration of mines, quarries, and other facilities managing waste.
Requirements

We are looking for a candidate with a relevant degree and some experience post-qualification working in a similar work environment. A good understanding of or interest in minerals and waste planning matters is essential.

What We Offer

As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to develop your expertise in minerals and waste planning, working across the county of Wiltshire. You will be part of a dedicated team that is expanding to meet a variety of challenges in the sustainable delivery of aggregate minerals and waste management facilities.

We offer a competitive salary of £34,834 - £45,441 (depending on experience) and 37 hours per week. This is a rolling advert, and we will stop accepting applications when sufficient applications have been received.
