Job Title: Biomedical Scientist - Diagnostic Microbiology

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Biomedical Scientist to join our Diagnostic Microbiology team at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic microbiology examinations and reporting of specimens to aid patient treatment and care.

Main Duties:
  • Process and interpret microbiological specimens, including blood, cerebrospinal fluid, urine, faeces, sputum, tissues, and diverse secretions.
  • Use interpretive skills on culture plates and complex analysers to deliver the diagnostic microbiology service to our users.
  • Participate in the analytical work of all aspects of the microbiology department to ensure the most efficient microbiology service is provided.
Requirements:
  • Registered BMS, registered with HCPC.
  • Completed either the IBMS Specialist Portfolio or the IBMS Specialist Diploma in Microbiology.
  • Willing to undergo relevant training to ensure sound relevant knowledge.
  • Laboratory experience and advanced knowledge of all areas of medical microbiology, including bacteriology, parasitology, and mycology.
Working Arrangements:

You will work in rotation with other staff in all sections of the laboratory, participating in the full shift rota, covering early and late shifts, weekends, and on-call duties during the week. Our busy laboratory is fully accredited with UKAS and HCPC training status.

You will be expected to work according to our working time compliant shift system and may be required to work at other network sites to maintain quality, training, and service requirements.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Salary: £31,469 to £47,084 per annum, inclusive of HCAS.
