About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Craftsperson (Mechanical) to join our Estates and Campus Services team at the University of Essex. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing our plumbing and HVAC systems, ensuring they operate efficiently and effectively.

The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background, with experience in plumbing, drainage, and HVAC maintenance. You will have achieved an industry-recognised qualification (NVQ Level 2 or equivalent) and be able to work independently and as part of a team. You will also have excellent communication skills and be able to deal with a variety of situations and tasks while under pressure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install new plant, equipment, and services
  • Carry out planned and preventative maintenance (PPM) on all plumbing and HVAC systems
  • Work to manuals, instructions, drawings, and specifications without direct supervision
  • Ensure all work is carried out to a high standard and in accordance with University of Essex policies and procedures
