Science Teacher Job Description

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and passionate Science Teacher to join our team in Newcastle. As a Science Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective lessons to secondary school students, fostering a love for science and helping them reach their academic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality science lessons that cater to students of varying abilities.
  • Use a variety of teaching methods and resources to inspire students and foster a passion for science.
  • Assess, record, and report on students' progress, providing constructive feedback to help them improve.
  • Prepare students for exams and coursework, ensuring they meet their academic targets.
  • Maintain a safe and organised classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and support staff to create a cohesive learning experience.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and school events as required.
  • Stay up to date with developments in science education and implement best practices in the classroom.

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
  • Specialism in Science, with experience teaching at the secondary level.
  • Strong subject knowledge across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students.
  • A commitment to promoting the welfare and safeguarding of children and young people.
  • A valid DBS registered on the Update Service or a willingness to apply for one.
