About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Food Service Team Lead to join our team at Durham University. As a key member of our catering team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to students, colleagues, and guests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise a team to ensure excellent customer service and lead by example, demonstrating excellent teamwork and the ability to delegate tasks and responsibility to team members.
  • Ensure that food service and dining areas are set up to an exceptional standard and remain clean, tidy, and a safe working environment.
  • Wash up as part of the role, including the use of an automatic dishwasher, and clear and clean food areas after service.
Requirements
  • Five GCSEs at least Grade C or level four (or equivalent) including English Language and Mathematics or equivalent experience.
  • Experience of working in a team delivering customer-focused services or having relevant qualifications for the role.
  • General experience in a similar environment/role.
  • Experience of managing time to meet deadlines.
  • Experience of supervising a team.
Skills and Abilities
  • Good spoken and written communication skills.
  • Good digital skills, including experience in using digital devices and apps, including the internet, email, digital communication tools, Microsoft 365 applications, and digital booking systems.
  • Committed to training and continuing professional development.
  • Ability to solve problems as part of a team and resolve straightforward issues.
  • Ability to provide advice and guidance to a range of colleagues and customers.
