Peer Support Specialist

In this role, you will be working with individuals who have experienced mental health challenges to provide peer support and guidance. As a Peer Support Worker, you will use your own experiences to empower others to take control of their lives and work towards recovery.
You will be working in a male low secure unit, Prospect Place, where you will provide one-to-one and group support to service users. Your role will involve sharing your own experiences of recovery from mental health difficulties, inspiring hope and optimism in others, and empowering them to achieve their personal goals.
This is a part-time position that offers flexible working arrangements, allowing you to balance your work and personal life. You will have the opportunity to work with a team of dedicated professionals who are passionate about providing high-quality care and support.
The salary for this role is £25,000 - £30,000 per annum, depending on experience. If you have lived experience of mental health difficulties and are passionate about supporting others, we encourage you to apply.
Main Responsibilities
- Demonstrate an attitude that respects and values service users and their carers, and has a clear understanding of professional boundaries.
- Act as a positive role model, showing professional and caring attitudes and behavior towards service users, their families and carers, and colleagues.
- Use active listening skills to help service users develop self-understanding and identify their personal recovery goals.
Requirements
- GCSE English to GCSE standard or equivalent.
- Level 3 Care Certificate or commitment to undertake on commencement of role, or equivalent demonstrable knowledge and experience.
- Peer Support Worker training or commitment to undertake on commencement of role, or equivalent demonstrable knowledge and experience.
