Charity Communications Specialist

The Charity Communications Executive will play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of objectives related to the strategic framework of RLSS UK. Specifically, this includes contributing to the development and implementation of multi-channel communications strategies to enhance the RLSS UK brand and reach.
As a key member of the Charity Communications Team, the Charity Communications Executive will work closely with the team to lead PR and brand activities, drive membership and fundraising through communications, and engage with and educate communities across the UK and Ireland.
Key Responsibilities- Communications/Marketing:
- Collaborate with the charity communications and marketing department to develop and implement national campaigns to raise brand awareness and deliver vital water safety messages.
- Lead the organisation's public relations, including managing media functions, writing press releases, and responding to media calls and inquiries.
- Monitor and evaluate marketing communication performance and report to the Charity Communications Manager.
- Work with agencies to ensure they meet specifications and deliver return on investment.
- Maintain consistency and accuracy in the use of the RLSS UK brand.
- Membership Communications:
- Manage the production process of the Lifesavers magazine, a bi-annual staple membership communication, from conception to delivery.
- General:
- Demonstrate and uphold the Society's values and behavioural standards at all times.
- Ensure compliance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 by adhering to internal information governance policies and maintaining up-to-date documentation.
- Participate in the Society's equality, diversity, and inclusion initiatives and training, and promote a culture of respect and inclusion for all staff and customers.
- Marketing/PR qualification or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience in leading and managing projects from inception to delivery.
- Proven ability in creating effective communications materials.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to multitask and manage priorities.
- Ability to work in a high-pressure communications environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including written and verbal, and interactions with media outlets.
- Confidence to work independently and as part of a team.
- Highly self-motivated to achieve and deliver results.
- Creative and innovative thinker.
- Attention to detail.
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe.
