We are seeking an experienced Data Scientist to lead our data science function. This role will involve applying expertise in data analysis, machine learning, and statistical modelling to drive customer-focused initiatives such as customer engagement, matching, and lifetime value maximisation.

Responsibilities:
  • Partner with Product Managers, Engineers, and stakeholders to scope, define, and test initiatives that deliver meaningful outcomes aligned with our business and product strategy.
  • Collaborate with the data guild to ensure alignment on priorities and drive shared initiatives.
  • Analyse large datasets from multiple sources to extract actionable insights informing our customer value optimisation and segmentation strategies.
  • Develop and implement machine learning and statistical models to predict customer behaviour, preferences, and lifetime value, identifying opportunities for targeted interventions and customer segmentation.
  • Design and implement performance tracking metrics and dashboards to monitor the success of business initiatives and provide data-driven recommendations for improvement.
  • Effectively communicate complex data findings and insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders, driving data-informed decision-making across the organisation.
Requirements:
  • Preferably a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field; a Master's or PhD is a plus.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience delivering business value via data analysis and predictive modelling, preferably in a B2C startup/scaleup setting, with bonus points for experience in a marketplace technology business.
  • Proficiency in Python, particularly with data science libraries and tools (e.g., NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn).
  • Strong knowledge of machine learning algorithms and statistical modelling techniques.
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and ability to communicate technical concepts simply to different audiences.
