We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced chemist to join our Drug Substance Development (DSD) Chemistry team at our R&D hub in Stevenage. As a member of DSD Chemistry, you will use your chemistry and biotransformations knowledge and expertise to develop new routes for primary manufacture and contribute to the development and deployment of state-of-the-art processes and technologies to enable the delivery of our medicines.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and perform synthetic organic chemistry and biotransformation experiments in a laboratory setting to meet project timelines and objectives.
- Think creatively to generate original ideas for new synthetic routes and simplifying process problems.
- Ensure that experimental work is communicated effectively at internal and external meetings.
- Participate in technology transfer activities as appropriate to our manufacturing partners Global Supply Chain (GSC), other parts of R&D, and partner Contract Manufacturing Organisations (CMOs).
- Author or contribute to regulatory submissions, patents, scientific papers and other internal documentation relevant to the role.
- Comply with applicable Data Integrity, Quality, cGMP and regulatory requirements in all aspects of work.
- Fully embrace all aspects of safety when working in a chemistry laboratory.
- Degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry or Biochemistry
- PhD or equivalent experience in practical synthetic organic or biotransformation chemistry.
- Experience in the application of biotransformations for small molecule synthesis.
- Highly self-motivated and possess strong experimental skills.
- Previous experience working in a multi-functional team to solve problems.
- Practical familiarity with analytical techniques such as HPLC, NMR, LCMS.
- Large-scale chemical synthesis.
- Reaction optimisation through high-throughput experimentation (HTE).
- Experience in data programming, data visualisation and modelling.
